We Serve Dead People pt6~ Sweet

           You didn’t want to get up and go to work, curling into him more as he shuts off his alarm. “Mm… Work ___.” He pats your leg.

         “Shh… Cuddle me…” You murmur in response, pulling him into you. He releases an amused breath.

         “Come on, we have to go feed the horde.” He pats your leg again.

         “... Kid would cuddle me.” You grumble.

         “Kid's a marshmallow.” He responds, sitting up with you cuddling his back. You grumble and he hums, getting up anyway.

          “Nuuu… Five more minutes.” You whine lightly.

           “I thought you'd be excited to see the brothers again.” He comments.  You pause, opening your eyes at that, the trio's faces coming to your mind. You let him go, sitting up now.

            “I had a dream about them last night…” You murmur. He peers back at you.

            “Should I be concerned?” He asks warily.

            “No… They were talking as if they had never died… Sabo gave me a rose and told me thank you for being kind…” You look at your hands, for a moment seeing the rose again.  “It was sweet…”

            Law shifts before turning to you and pulling you into a hug. “You know that's not possible. Even if their mobility is returning… They still eat humans.” He murmurs.  You frown, gripping his arm softly.

            “But Law… It's like they're returning to themselves. What if the effects are really reversing?” You frown at him.

            “I cant believe in such things ___, I'm sorry.” He pulls back with his own frown.

            “I know… But I dont want to believe that they're stuck like that… I know it's crazy but… I want to know who they are, really.” You sigh lightly. He hesitates and nods, touching your shoulder.

            “I cant begin to understand you.” He says bluntly, making you pout at him. “But, if anyone has a chance to get to know some undead, it's you.” He adds, giving a ghost of a smile. You meet his gaze and relax, smiling yourself.

            “Thanks Law. I really needed your low key sweet.” You murmur. He huffs and smirks, pushing you over.

            “Go get dressed, I'm leaving in ten.” He informs before going to his dresser.

            “Let me steal a shirt.” You hum smirking.

            “.... No.” He hums, peering at you. “And before you say it, I'm not a marshmallow like him.”

           “Alright,  alright.” You grumble getting up and going to the door.  Something falls on your head and you pause.

            “So don’t say anything.” He adds as you smirk at the shirt.

             “Thanks.” You hum going out to the guest room and changing for work. You leave the room stretching and going to the kitchen to see Law already starting on breakfast. You stop, leaning on the wall to watch him move around his kitchen carefully. He was so cute when he was careful and focused. He hums softly as he starts to cook. You lean your head on the wall, smiling a bit.

             “Are you waiting for me to burn everything?” He inquires, feeling your gaze.

             “Nah, you're just so cute when you're focused.” You hum. He smiles a bit, peering at you.

            “Just say you love me then.” He teases. You huff and go over hugging him.  

             “Eggs are burning…” You smirk. He blinks and focuses on cooking.

              “Damn… every time…” He grumbles quickly trying again as you sit down.

              Once he gets done cooking, a slightly over cooked plate of food is set in front of you. You couldn’t help but smile, knowing how hard he had been trying to cook it. “Thanks Law. Looks good.” You hum, starting to eat. He gives a doubtful hum, sitting as well and starting to eat. “Well, compared to last time, this is great.” You smirk as pink dusts his cheeks.

             “I've been practicing….” He mutters. You smile, shifting with giddy delight.

             “You're adorable.” You chuckle. He glowers at you and stands as you both finish eating.

              “Stop confusing me with the eyebrowless wonder.” He scoffs, taking the dishes to the sink.

               “Hey, don't take shots when he's not here to react to them.” You laugh getting up. “And he happens to be handsome without them.”

                “You call him handsome…”

              You look at the clock, swiftly grabbing a few buckets and going to the feeding area, grinning as the trio wander in. “Sabo, Ace, Luffy! Welcome back!” You greet cheerfully.

             They smile, coming over and sitting down, looking at you rather happily. You dump the contents of the bucket on the table, watching them dig in, except for Sabo. You look at the blond with a concerned frown. “You okay Sabo?” You ask as he feels through his pockets. He meets your gaze briefly before looking down as he pulls out a little gold necklace. He smiles a bit, holding it out to you.

              “Oh, for me? Thank you Sabo, you're sweet.” You smile, taking it gently. He smiles more, gazing up at you for a moment or two before focusing on eating. He was eating rather carefully as if he was self-conscious. “Alright, I'm going back to cooking, hang out if you want.” You briskly touch his shoulder before going to the back. Kid follows after you.

             “You're too comfortable around them.” He sighs. You look at the necklace thoughtfully, touching the fire pendant on it.

              “You think he had a girlfriend before he became an undead?” You hum in thought. He gaps at you for a moment.

              “Are you crushing on a zombie!?” He gasps.

              “He's really sweet, and lately he and his brother’s are like knights in rotting armor.” You smile taking the necklace to the sink and cleaning it off before putting it on. Kid looks to Law who stood at the doorway frowning at your back lightly.

                “I have an order for the ghouls.” He speaks up, going to your side, giving you the paper. He peers at the necklace briefly. “It suits you…” He adds lightly before going back out. You smile, glancing at him before starting to cook some of the meats. After you finish, you take the tray out to the table before going to check on the trio. Sabo’s eyes lock on you and he wipes at his mouth before gesturing you over with his hand. You blink, going over to him and leaning over to his eye level.

          He pulls out a terribly folded note, frowning unsurely. “Hm? Did you write something?” You ask taking it. He tilts his head in a way that you perceive as-

          ‘Uh… I think so…’ Raising your brow slightly with a hum, you curiously move to open it but he stops you. His hand gently pushes your hand to your chest. His eyes seemed to plead to you not to open it here.

          “Okay, I'll wait.” You assure with a smile. He relaxes, smiling back, carefully withdrawing his hand. They finish eating, but they dont leave, hanging out until closing. You were surprised when they started to help clean up. “Heh, you guys are great.” You smile at them, receiving smiles in return.

           “Sure are helpful.” Law comments as you finish in record time. You bound over to the trio, looking at them thoughtfully.

            “I'll have to repay you, can I have your i.d Sabo?” You request lightly. He blinks in surprise ducking his head and feeling through his pockets before bringing out his id, handing it to you. “Thanks, I'll see you guys later.” You say, turning to go but the disappointment on their faces makes you pause. “I promise I'll see you again today, trust me.” You assure smiling. Ace and Luffy pout but nod while Sabo gives you a rather curious look. You meet Sabo’s gaze and offer a wink, causing his eyes to widen and him look away touching his cheek in a cute gesture. “Really, you're so cute…” You breathe. He gives you a slight pout in response.

         “Come on, we have to close up.” Kid speaks up, assuring them out. They wave to you before leaving. Law and Kid close the doors, locking them up tight.

         “Alright, what are you up to now?” Law questions before turning from the door.

          “Im going to find their old home, they must’ve been residents here right?” You hum putting a knuckle to your chin.

         “Why?” Kid frowns confused.

         “Well, I think they would like some of their old things,” You shrug, going to the back and removing your jumpsuit. You pull on your clothes as they come in.

         “I'll help you then.” Law decides.

         “Me too, I don't have any plans anyway.” Kid speaks up.

          “You two are the best.” You smile lightly, peering at them as they change. “Law your boxers are always so nice.” You murmur.

         “___, I'm not going to tell you where I get my boxers.” He deadpans.

         “But… I want them…” You murmur.

         “So weird.” Kid teases, pushing you playfully.

         “Shush teddy.” You push him back.

          “I'll show you a teddy bear.” He rumbles.

          “Focus…” Law sighs making you both look at him.

           “Right, lets see…” You take the i.d and note from your pocket, pausing to look at the folded piece of paper.

           “What's that? A love note from blondie?” Kid huffs.

            “I dont know yet… I'm kinda nervous to read it. Silly right? Could be all scribbles for all I know.” You chuckle.

            “... You should read it before you see him again,” Law says, plucking the i.d from your fingers. He looks at it closely before nodding. “This address is in the old city.” He informs you.

           “Oooh been a while since we went there.” You smile at Kid.

           “Lets get going then.” Kid nods leading out. You follow the redhead, deciding to open the note and read it since there was still time before you reached the north wall. You blink in surprise at the handwriting, you could tell he was careful with his writing, but it still seemed shaky.

I want to thank you for being kind to us, and not looking at us like we're monsters. I feel like… No.. Thank you, I hope we can communicate more in the fu-

         The writing becomes illegible after that. You tilt your head, it was only missing a sentence but what was there made you smile. “Wow…” You breathe.

          “Could you read it?” Law asks peering at it but you fold it up again.

         “Yeah, he was trying hard, that was for sure.” You murmur, easing it into your pocket.

         “There’s the wall, think they've patched up the hole?” Kid asks. You look at the wall, it was newer from the rest since it sectioned the town off from the city after zombies found a way in. You purse your lips in thought.

          “You can check, but I'm going over.” You unhook your hook swords and dash at the wall, leaping up and using them to scale the wall, stopping at the top and looking around.

          “... Thats fucking cheating…” Kid mutters.   

          “She’ll have to wait for us anyway.” Law holds up Sabo’s i.d.

          “Sometimes that brain of yours does come in handy.” Kid chuckles.
