Trouble Maker~ Smoker x Reader pt18

            Though you felt exhausted, you couldn't stay asleep for long. You sit up, ignoring the pain and screams of protest from your body. You glance over at the other bed in the infirmary and pause, worry flashing through you. "Where is he?" You question the doctor, Dim. He jumps in surprise and turns around to face you.

             "He's outside talking with Aokiji," He answers.

             "Should he be moving about?" You ask.

             "W-well, no... He should be resting," He admits.

             "Then why didn't you stop him?" You question, getting up. He shifts nervously at your tone.

             "He... Scares me?" He squeaks, shrinking back as you give him an annoyed look.

             "I'll go get him," You grumble, going out. You find him sitting with Aokiji facing the ocean. Aokiji raises his head as you catch his eye. Smoker pauses and turns his head to you. "Vice Admiral, you shouldn't be out here, return to the infirmary," You tell him.

             "I'm fine, go put a coat on," He says with a dismissive wave. You glance down to find that your top half was only covered by bandages. Though you should probably be embarrassed about this, his dismissive wave ticked you off more. You ball up your hands into fists, teeth grit slightly.

             "You, ass," You growl, making him pause and turn his surprised gaze to you. "Do you have any idea how much you scared me!? I- This.... This is not open for discussion! Get your ass back to the infirmary or I will drag you there myself!" You snap, shocking him. He opens his mouth to protest but you cut him off. "Infimary. NOW." You growl as a wind whips around you. Aokiji gets up and starts to go past at that, drawing Smoker's gaze.

             "Where are you going?" He questions the ice man.

            "To the infirmary- she scares me," Aokiji replies, glancing back at him. Smoker looks from him to you before getting up and following after him, giving you a questioning look as he goes. You relax and watch him go before turning your gaze to the ocean. You could barely remember your fight with Doflamingo, but you were aware that you had somehow used Busoshoku Haki. You look down at your arms for a moment before heading to the infirmary after Smoker and Aokiji.

           "_-___, you shouldn't be moving about too much either," Dim tells you carefully. You blink at him.

           "Oh, sorry," You mutter, going over and laying on the bed across from Smoker. You fold your arms behind your head and close your eyes, not wishing to interrupt his and Aokiji's conversation a second time. How ever they were silent for a few moments, watching you warily.

            "I'm jealous Smoker, all my years as a marine and I've never had a subordinate as cute and loyal as yours," Aokiji says, finally breaking the silence. Smoker pauses, shifting slightly as he glances at him.

            "She's something else alright." He muses. You will yourself to act like you weren't listening but his comment had piqued your interest. "She's a pain in the ass too," He adds, shrugging off his coat before coming over and putting it over you. "It's fun having her around," He comments, lightly pinching your cheek because he knew you were listening. You blush slightly, letting your lips pull up into a smile as your eyes remain shut.

            "Fun? That's not a word you often use," Aokiji comments. "Anyway, I'll leave now. Be careful," He adds before leaving. You sit up after he leaves, glancing at Smoker as he rubs his neck.

            "Sorry," He murmurs. You blink at him in surprise. He meets your gaze and for a split the image of him laying in the snow bloody and unconscious flickers through your mind again. Your eyes cloud and you suddenly hug his neck and nearly making him fall over.

            "I was so scared when I saw you like that!" You whisper, tears coming to your eyes as you bury your face in his neck. You begin to shake slightly, "I thought I lost you! I.... Please don't fight someone like that alone again... I... I'd be so lost without you..." You breath, arms tightening around his neck. Smoker pauses, eyes widening slightly before hugging you back tightly.

            "It's okay ___, I'm sorry for scaring you like that... I'm glad you're okay," He says softly.

            "Even if I'm a pirate?" You ask quietly. He last out a breath at that, pulling back to look at you.

            "I... Don't see you as a pirate... Or a marine...." He informs you. You raise an eyebrow in confusion. "You're a stubborn, easily bored trouble maker," He deadpans. You chuckle sheepishly at that. He puts a hand on your head. "Which is why it's best if you stay at my side," He adds.

            "Yes boss," You say with a smile. He smiles a bit, tipping your chin.  

            "Get some rest Trouble," He breathes.

            "I will as soon as I'm sure you'll rest too," You shoot back. He smirks and lays down on the bed.

            "Happy?" He asks. You shift, looking down at him for a bit. He raises an eyebrow. "What?"

            "That's my bed," You inform him. He blinks, eyes narrowing slightly before scooting over.

            "You have a problem with sharing?" He questions. A slight blush comes to your cheeks.

            "N-no," You mutter, crawling in next to him. You shift closer to him, still blushing slightly.

            "Sleep well, ___," He whispers. You look over and meet his brown orbs.

            "Sleep well Smoker." You murmur, before closing your eyes and falling fast asleep. He smiles, shifting closer and kissing your forehead.

              "I love you." He breathes.
