Surprise~ Basil Hawkins *Oneshot*

         Screw it. Everything is based on luck anyways. Nothing is set in the stars or those weird little cards. You look around Fortune Island. You were going to rob one of these scammers. You start your way into town and pause as your cat sense jabs at you, drawing your gaze to a black cat mink.
         Your fingers twitch and you can’t fight the dominant urge to go over to the feline. It blinks its big luminous green eyes at you. “…. Yes?” He asks.
         Not even acknowledging he had spoke, you went straight for the weak spot under the ear, rubbing and scratching lightly. There’s a pause before he gives in, purring ruggedly. You smile a bit at that. Someone clears their throat and you look over at the man with long blond hair. His eyes pierce you silently. “There’s a twenty percent chance your plan will fail.” Oh… One of those guys.
         “Man, I just can’t escape you fortune tellers… Tell me, what’s the chance of me finding my love today?” You huff.
          “One hundred percent.” He answers. You pause in surprise before shrugging it off.
           “We’ll see about that. But if I succeed with my plan, I’ll have you buy me lunch.” You smirk.
           “I accept.” He rumbles. His crew seem surprised by that but again you shrug it off.
           “See you around fortune teller.” You wave.
           Three successful robberies later you’re feeling giddy as you carry your loot to your ship and lock it up. “There, now lets see if I can get the fortune teller to feed….” Cat senses tingling. You walk out to find the mink on your ship. You smile and go over petting him and earning a purr. “What are you doing here?” You ask the mink.
         “The captain has prepared lunch prrr. I came to escort you.” He rumbles.
          “Oh? So much for twenty percent success rate. Lead the way.” You chuckle.  He leads you to the edge of town, he points to the top of a hill. “Up there? That’s oddly romantic…” You pat his head before walking up the hill to find a picnic waiting for you along with the blond.
           “Hello again,” He greets, not looking up from his tarot cards. You frown and take the cards with one fluid motion, seeming to surprise him.
            “Ah Ah Ah Mr. Fortune Teller, I demand your full attention if you’re going to eat with me.” You smirk. He pauses, and nods, pink dusting his cheeks. You smirk and sit down next to him, opening the basket to peer at the food. “Wow, you have good taste Mr. Fortune Teller.”
             “Right… I neglected to introduce myself… I’m Basil Hawkins.” He introduces.
             “I’m ___, nice to meet you… So tell me. What did your fortune say today?” You tease lightly.
             “That I would meet an important person today.” He shifts his attention to pulling out food with a blush.
             “Oh? So you think I’m important?” You smile. “How sweet, you did all of this because of your cards…”
             “You don’t believe in it?” He peers at you.
             “I do… But I’m the rare few that likes not knowing. Surprises are thrilling.” You chuckle.
             “I don’t think I follow…” He frowns slightly.
             “Well… Like this.” You kiss him suddenly, making him freeze. “See? Don’t you feel more alive if your heart jumps like that?” You breathe pulling back to find him red faced with wide eyes.
            “I can’t deny if you put it like that…” He murmurs looking away.
            “Then don’t… It’s not bad to be surprised sometimes.” You wink.
            “In that case…. Join my crew. I only wish to be surprised by you.” He smiles slightly. You blink and blush.
            “I don’t know… What’s in it for me?” You smirk.
           “I’ll get you a cat.”
          “…. Deal.”
